Objectives

The Laboratory of Complexity - Center for Research in Mathematics and Applications at the University of Évora, aims the realization and execution of experimental aspects of a research program on Complexity in its various phenomenological aspects and in particular the development of a mathematical theory of complex systems, inspired by the theory of nonlinear dynamical systems and in the context of what may be referred to as physical - mathematics. Based on assumptions and defined guiding principles, seeks to provide experimental evidence and new conceptual tools. As underlying long-term goal seek to contribute to the unity of science in face of the sometimes extreme specialization that occurs in various scientific fields.

As part of CIMA will also contribute to achieving the objectives of the center:

1. The development of mathematics and its applications.

2. The contribution to interdisciplinary collaboration at the University of Évora, as well as other universities and research centers.

3. Stimulating research related to the study of complexity and interaction with the various areas developed within the center.

4. The realization and promotion of scientific texts and scientific dissemination.

5. Support to teaching at the University of Évora, in articulation with phD courses, master's degrees, bachelor degrees but also to secondary education and elementary schools.
